Vicki,

Glad to hear your mom has made that step. Has she tried talking to him
about it, or perhaps you and mom together? Sounds like your sister might
need to sit in as well from what you said. Maybe you need to get some duct
tape and tape his lips together and have him sit on his hands and listen to
the plain facts of life *smile*. It is hard sometimes to gain respect from
a relative, let alone a child telling a parent what the score is. One thing
I know about Bear is he was witnessed to many times, the preacher as you
saw in the article was subject to a number of abuses going in there to talk
to him, and yet he was softened by that constant reminder and tangible
evidence someone cared. Had the prisoner not taken that last step of
making a bet with him, and no one did anything else to witness to Bear,
he'd likely not be where he is today. I pray your dad is afforded yet
another try, and another, and another until he sees the truth. And someone
with boldness and who might have a way to gain the respect needed to have
him listen crosses his path.
