Hi, all.  Just a note to ask your prayers for my mom.  She's been
suffering with dementia for a few years now, and has been in a
nursing home since early 2004.  The doctor told us on Thursday that
she's reached the final stages of dementia.  She isn't taking any
fluids or food or meds, and the doctor said there was really no point
in hooking her up to an IV, as once it was unplugged, she'd be right
back to where she is now.  So we're just letting her go, with just
comfort care:  a bit of insulin to keep her from going into a
diabetic coma, a nitro patch to keep her from having chest pains, and
either a Tylenol cipository or a morphine patch to relieve any
discomfort.  I'm at peace with this being the time to let her go and
let nature take its course, but of course good-byes are still
hard.  So pray for us all as we say good-bye and let Mom pass on.  I
haven't seen that spirituality had a high priority in her life, but
I'm not making any assumptions about what may have gone on between
the Lord and her as she started to decline.  I just want to do what I
can to help her and my other family members and myself as we deal
with this change in our family.  Thanks for your prayers and support.
