Hi

To start with I have almost the same setup. I had only 1 gig of memory.
I also had this same problem once. It was a very smart virus, luckily it
wasn't hard to deal with.
First go back to task manager and look in the processes tab. Your
looking for process that is being the bad guy. If you find a process
taking up all the cycles wwrite down the name of it more than likely
ending in exe. Then do a search for it on your computer. If it shows up
in a known software folder then it may just be a corrupted file and
would need to uninstall the program and reinstall (or maybe a repair).
Now it more than like is a virus thats hiding in or around the windows
folder. The most like thing you need to do is go into safe mode re-run
you anti-virus software and your anti-spyware software there in safe
mode. In my case this is where I had to deal with it.

Since than I have added another gig of memory. Things do work very good
now a lot better. About 35% in fact. So adding the additional gig will
more than likely help but I'm pretty sure won't help until you fix the
problem you have now. By the way anything over the 2 gig probably won't
help even 10% as two gig in a 32bit OS is about tops. 3 gig is actually
tops, but going there isn't really worth it unless you do A LOT of
multi-tasking/gaming, graphics, multimedia work.

Hope this helps some.

Good Luck

Brad Feuerhelm
