I have a 3yr old Compaq laptop running Windows XP.  I always keep the AC adapter on my laptop plugged in. It started to switch over to battery mode on its own a couple of months ago. I've tried plugging the AC adapter into different outlets, thinking I have a bad outlet and it happens no matter what electrical outlet I use. I've unplugged the adapter from the computer and plug back in and it repairs itself but it continues to it 2-3 times a day. Any idea why this happens?
