Since broadband does not require a connection, I would just delete the
connection to Comcast through Control Panel, Network connections. If you do
not want to delete this connection, although I can not see it doing you any
good, you can go into Internet Explorer, then Tools, Internet Options,
Connection Tab, and choose never dial a connection. This setting allows
Windows to dial into a connection if you do not have a connection present
however it is a little flaky in my experience. Good Luck.

Subject: [PCBUILD] Need Help
I hope this is the right place to ask my question. I am having a hard time
following where to ask.
My question for you is this: I seem to get the problem fixed only to have
it return. I get the pop up box that says: Dial up Connection Select the
service you want to connect to.
Connect to: Broadband connection
lxl connect automatically
lconnectl lsettingsl lcancell
Dialing Comcast
Dialing Attempt 1
NEXT BOX:
Connecting Broadband Connection
Dialing Comcast
lcancell
3rd BOX:
Error connecting to Broadband Connection
I have to keep hitting cancel in order to view a web page. I have
Windows XP and have the updates automatically installed. I also have
Broadband
with Comcast which obviously requires no dial-up.
This time, the error began to appear after downloading Trend Micro
Anti-virus. I called tech support. The first person was unable (after 1
hour) to
resolve the problem. The second tech support was more helpful. The
problem
seemed to be taken care of. But it was short-lived and I now am having
the
problem again - although it does not happen all the time like it did
before.
Can you help me????? Please?????
I realize this is quite a lengthy question. If you care to edit it for
your column - please feel free.
Thank you for your help.
Monica
