  One of the pitfalls is that some courts have found existing "theft of 
computing resources" legislation to apply to this activity.  You don't want 
to be the test case to determine if those precedents apply in your 
jurisdiction.
  So while you can often get away with this for brief periods, you probably 
shouldn't make a habit of it.
