Are you sure they're setting up a network? Some installers think that 
setting up a router is the end of the line.
There's a networking tutorial here:
http://www.homenethelp.com/web/howto/net.asp
Once you have a functioning network, use the Add printer wizard and 
select "Network Printer" in the dialogue box. For most printers this 
will work very smoothly.
