"Your system has a bootable network card installed and it is saying Media
test failure because a network cable is not plugged in. When it can't boot
from the network card it should continue on to boot from the hard drive.
Maybe your BIOS settings have changed to only attempt to boot from the
network card. When you get into the bios check the boot order and make sure
that the hard drive is set to boot after the floppy if you have one or just
program it to boot from the hard drive altogether. Someplace in the order
the NIC is set to boot first."
"The board provides one of the following: Gigabit (10/100/1000 Mbits/sec)
LAN subsystem using the IntelR 82573E/82573V/82574V Gigabit Ethernet
Controller One serial port 10/100 Mbits/sec LAN subsystem using the IntelR
82562GX/82562GZ PLC device"
"The IntelR Desktop Boards Media Series are designed to support the
high-bandwidth interfaces and power needed for demanding entertainment,
education, and gaming applications. In configuring a PC for the digital
home, the IntelR Desktop Board Media Series is the place to start."
Set the BIOS to boot accordingly. After you install the OS please be sure to
run the Intel utilities first. Don't pass go until you do. Choose only the
components you want to run and leave the others. After you have done this
and are able to get in the net run the Microsoft update and install all of
the necessary patches and security updates required. Do a scandisk and
defrag then you will be ready to install the other software you have. Always
install the "Intel" .inf for the board after the OS. <Smile>

Frank Suszka
