Hello, wasn't this guy (or girl?) mentioned some time back by Joe and others? Well, this Biraago guy / girl has decided to leave the below comment on my blog. Or, should I say, they tried to leave the comment, but I moderate my blog comments to keep out the spam. And what I don't understand is why he posted the comments on posts which were completely unrelated to his topic? And both comments were almost identical... What I'd like to know is, what was the point? It would be one thing if he would have put the comment int he comments area which actually had something to do with the post dealing with The Gambia or Gambian politics, etc. Or, better yet, why not just email me privately? Why post the comment on my blog, in a post which has absolutely nothing to do with what he's talking about? Anyway, I am probably giving this guy / girl more publicity by doing this, but find the comments below.I think it is very brave of you to venture to analyse the current political events in the Gambia, particularly the scramble that led to the dis-integration
of NADD but, i hope that you took a more indept look at the causations of these on warranted squabbles that gave birth to this unfortunate event.

With hind sight, we could observe that the lack of transparency which some are now attributing to insincerity is surely one of the factors.

The personification of politícal parties (the leaders become the soul of the party) instead of the general membership being the sovereign guarantors is
also another aspect of the collaps.

If we go back to the events that the UDP and Darboe in particular is criticised for. The UDP was a conglomeration of members and supporters of the PPP,
GPP, NCP, UP among others.

Darboe was choosen, although the PPP was the biggest party at the time as the former ruling institution, then the NCP with SM Dibba being the persona that
carried the flag of the opposition since 1975 untill he was edged out in favour of the freshly coming Ousainou Darboe as a compromise.

In 1996, Darboe ran to the Senegalese embassy seeking protection while his party militants were protesting the results of the elections, but he was forgiven
for this.

In 2001, Darboe called to Yahya Jammeh congratulating him while the same colleagues of his were again contesting the results of the elections and together
with the IEC, they were engaged in a varifucation process in which their was ample evidence of fraud and Darboe was in congruent his his party colleagues
and retracted his concession to the incumbent Yahya Jammeh and led the UDP through a boycott of the National Assembly elections which in itself was another
grave mistake.

Another aspect of the disagrement is that most of the members of NADD including some fro the UDP agreed not to have a party lead Alliance but a collective
leadership in which case all member parties would wield equal representation and influence. This document was signed by all and sundry and acclaimed by
most of the supporters.

It was pronounce by Darboe was he and the UDP would stand by any candidate who is choosen by the collective and strive for the common good of the Gambian
people.

The By-elections in Jarra 2005 for the Njau ward and later for the national assembly sits were won or lost on this agreed platform.

We could also argue that due to the lack of good organisational principles, both Omar Jallow - O J, and Lamin Waa Juwara tried to expose their views to
the general public but lacked the communication skills of Halifa Sallah who was giving personal interviews to the Foroyaa newspaper while presenting the
communiqué of the NADD colective in a professional manner and seperately.

Mr Darboe and Bah were not available to the general public for comments regarding their standpoints or that of their parties.

The end result became endless speculations and when pushed by sime journalists Darboe would shy away in most cases.

The objections to O J's selection was also done in an un-professional manner. It is true that many think that O J as flag bearer has more negative aspects
than positive, it is more appropriate for both Darboe, Waa and O J to solve the matter in a civilased manner and not confrontation.

It is also justified that the results of the failed selection be communicated to the general public through the coordinator and not leakages by executive
members.

Darboe did'nt have to just ship either if he thinks and so do many that he is a worthy contender of the position of flag-bearer and the MOU stipulates that
were consensus is absent in the selection of the flag bearer, the the matter should be refered to the selected leaders of the local committees as the next
step. Darboe is again blamed for not waiting for this process to take place, thus giving more credit to the sckeptics who always believed that he was not
intrested in the alliance in the first lace and would sieze any opprtunity to withdraw from it. It is believed by most that he used the disagreements to
blame other alliance leaders while hiding his own agenda and betrayal.

To be continued...
