Hi Bob and Lou and the group. I would have thought that Detroit would
have gone all encrypted, but they haven't yet anyway, but in 1991 I was
trying to obtain some frequencies, and this was long before they even
thought of going digital, but were on 453 MHz for police and 154 for
fire/EMS and some detectives and specialized units in Detroit were on an
old analogue system on 800 MHz, and surprisingly very little encryption.
However, when I talked to someone in communications she said that they
couldn't even give the levels of frequencies, and she wasn't rude about
it, but she said it like she meant business. Now, since Detroit has gone
digital they admit that you need a special scanner that will cost more to
monitor, but unless you have the necessary firmware upgrades you will have
trouble with monitoring, and hopefully in a week or so when my 96 gets
back we'll see what happens as I am half way between two of the towers for
Detroit's new system.
