Folks, I have two antennas which both work well for me.
The first is a half sloper. This is about 90 feet of copperwelld wire,
running from the top of a 32 foot tower out to a tree.
The tower is grounded at its base with an 8 foot ground rod. Going to add
radials later this spring.
Center of coax feeds the wire, shield tied to the tower.
tunes all bands with the ts2000 autotuner except for parts of 75 and 17.
The second is a shorty 80 meter dipole with loading coils at each end.
This is fed with 300 ohm window line, to a 4-1 balun just outside the
house. This tunes nearly all bands as well.
For those portions of the bands where I need help, I have an mfj manual
tuner in line, with the palomar engineers noise bridge. I just null the
noise as best I can, and let the auto tuner do the rest.
Home brew, cheap and very serviceable.
Hope this helps.
