John beat me to the punch on some of the questions I would have asked you.
Also don't forget that even under the best installation the G5RV will need a
tuner for most bands.

if it wer me, I would concentrate on one antenna at a time.  Roll up the
G5RV and get the vertical working.  Don't assume, confirm that the coax and
connectors  ar fine and that the antenna is assembled correctly.
