I've had the same problem with my CD burning drive.  It is supposed to burn 
CD's, but I also get that error message when I attempt to transfer anything 
to it from my hard drive.  It is also supposed to play DVD's, but it won't 
because there is no compatible decoder on my system.  So I don't know what's 
going on with that either.  73.
