Excuse me, but isn't sensitivity measured by measuring the signal to noise 
ratio at a given signal level.  If you lower the noise floor, you raise the 
sensitivity, unless your modification also lowers the signal level!  In the 
latter case, you would have just reinvented the RF Gain control!
