Hi;
Its a bit to rich for my blood but I too will be very interested to see what
sort of reply you get. Accessibility is much easier if it is built in at
the beginning rather than an after thought.

Subject: Another rig to potentially drool over

Hey guys,

Check this bad boy out. I sent the note below to the company to find
their stance on accessibility (i.e. more Ten-Tec or more
Elecraft). You can find all the juicy details at:
http://www.getboost.com/dz/detailed_information.htm

Hello:

Wow--this sounds like a neat rig! A bit out of my price range today,
but definitely a possibility for the wish list :)

I do have a couple questions about it, having mostly to do with rig
accessibility for blind hams (of which I are one). Assume for the
moment that we can either build one or have one built. I note a couple
of absent features that, I think, should be easy enough to implement
if they're not already. I'd like to hear your company's views on
these, and what sort of commitment your company can make towards
accessibility:

1. I'd like to see direct entry of operating frequency--something I
didn't see in your list of features. Is this possible?

2. Audible (i.e. voice or morse) output of operating parameters:
operating frequency, power, menu settings, memory information,
etc. With an embedded PC, this should not only be possible, but
absolutely trivial. However, having this functionality in the base
model would be nice. Regardless, it should be available in some
   fashion.

Not having looked at the sample manual, these are the biggest points
that spring immediately to mind. I urge you, as a company, to follow
in Elecraft's footsteps and make a commitment to the disabled ham
community to build accessibility into your products. If what I
understand about your design is correct, these additions should be
easy *and* relatively inexpensive.
