From what I've read, digital AM will be on the same broadcast band, the theory
being that they can survive with more fidelity and lower noise.  I doubt that
it will be successful.

And, as a side, I think the analog TV broadcasts will be around for probably
closer to four years than 2, I thought it had been extended to at least 2009.
I know the federal governemnt is in a big yank to auction off the TV analog
channels, but HD is really just starting to dent the maarkat and has a lot
more penetration to do before elimination of analog will be viable.

An interesting paradox in the whole thing is that dgital is a lot harder to
pick up using an off-the-air antenna; it doesn't have the range of analog,
contrary to initial expectations.  Of course, when/if you do get a digital
signal, it is apparently very nice with few artifacts, but then again, if you
lose it, it is just gone.  Kaput.
