Very good, very very good. Quite observant of you. It's funny, I thought
about that as I was explaining the alternatives and recalling the
experiences I've had on cb where people use to drop carriers on am, whether
intentional or otherwise, and I could clearly hear the side band stations
with out having to switch over. I decided against mentioning the carrier
only because, I can't see it working out comfortably if you're right on top
of it. Meaning if you're using an external transmitter to create the
carrier, it stands to reason you'll obliterate everything around it.

Only way to copy or decode s s b is to add a carier. Side band, whether
single or double, is just e audio portion of the transmition. One trick I
did years ago, and I don't even remember the value was on a Laffayete he
20. This was a cb rig I converted to ten meters. I made a feed back loop
through a switch a very high resister and a capacitor in series. This
went from output of last if state to input of first if stage. This, when
adjusted right, created just enough of a carier to beat against the ssb
signals. Actually worked quite well.
