My husband and I got tested for Celiac recently b/c our 2 yr old was diagnosed with CD. I was negative but my husband was positive. However, he has no symptoms and never has. He is 39 years old, otherwise completley healthy, with a healthy build (6 feet, 180 pounds, pretty muscular). I know one can be Celiac without symptoms, so I'm not doubting the diagnosis, but I'm wondering whether he is likely to have any associated health problems b/c of his having untreated celiac for so long. In other words, if you have no symptoms, is less damage being done? I would think that must be the case. I mean, he's obviously been absorbing nutrients based on his height and build. Any thoughts?
(p.s. the only thing we wonder about is that he does not sleep well - never has - and he sometimes gets headaches after eating a lot of carbs. Could these be Celiac side effects??).
Thanks.
