Hi, Fellow Sufferers - The response I had was great! Even if you had no special tips many of you wrote and expressed kind thoughts. Among the people who sent information on what they thought might help I received the following suggestions.
1. Anti-depressants help some - Amitriptylinem (ELAVIL) was mentioned several times
2. Glucosamine was recommended by a few.
3. Staying away from potatoes and vegetables of the nightshade family (tomatoes , peppers, eggplant, etc.) was also recommended.
4. One person said he was taking Ultram (tramadol) and it helped.
5. A few had had all their fillings removed and replaced (Not an option for me as I am a dental coward - and I have a great dentist!)
6. Some swear by mild exercise - swimming, etc.
7. Not too many are doing what I do - which is try to get by with OTC painkillers such as Ibuprofen.
8. I should add that I am a college librarian used to surfing the net regularly and I have found the sites on Fibromyalgia the least helpful I have ever encountered. Most recommend taking anti-depressants. As I am not depressed, sleep well, and wake refreshed I have resisted taking anti-depressants. I am also a very active person - play Golf regularly and generally lead a normal life. BUT I am almost never without pain
except when I am sitting or lying down.
My sympathies go out to you all - maybe they will find a cure for this thing some day - Let's hope so. Thanks for your input - Iris
