Summary Part 3: Antibiotic prophylaxis for dental work.
18. Use other antibiotics than penicillin/amoxicillin. Endocarditis is serious business. It killed singer Bobby Darren who didn't take his pre medication before dental work. He had an artificial heart valve. Could they give IV amoxicillin or a shot so it doesn't go thru the digestive system. It would still prevent blood infection from cleaning around the teeth where germy plaque can get into the blodstream around the teeth.
19. Take Acidophilus before and after amoxicillin. GF Amoxicillin generics by Teva and Mylan are currently gluten free.
With MVP if you let the teeth go, the bacteria produced by tooth decay alone might wreck the mitral valve in the heart.
20. Try a different antibiotic. Eat a meal when you take antibiotic. If take on an empty stomach causes a big problem. Ceftin is gentle on the stomach. Not getting dental wrk done could be painful and maybe cause an infection.
21. From a dentist-heard of this happening now and then. Talk to MD about possibly changing type of antibiotics used. May also be possible to give IV antibiotic and bypass GI system-this may or may not work. Consult with MD and if necessary GI specialists. Avoiding dental work is a bit extreme, even given the nature of the problems.
22. Person put off having a cracked tooth worked on and have been going through months of hell-lots of infection spreading in jaw and sinuses. Been on several hard core antibiotics that caused reactions. Now on doxycycline for a month to try and resolve the issues. Doing some probiotics to try and help things along.
23. One suggestion can help prevent the diarrhea/candida reaction of antibiotics: There is a supplement with the generic term of Saccharomyces boulardii. It works differently than probiotics. It's actually a beneficial yeast-don't be worried that it is a yeast, I have battled candida for decades, so I don't take anything that is yeast without lots of research. It implants in the intestines so it helps keep the bad yeast from getting a foothold in the intestines. It is specfically used to prevent diarrhea from antibiotics, and it is even written up in the Merck Manual as the only way to prevent a life threatening infection that can occur from antibiotics known as clostridium difficile. Use it along with acidophilus/probiotics as they work in different ways. Website for the brand this person uses at www.florastor.com and gives a good overview. Nutritionist states it's best to start the s. boulardii a few days before the antibiotic so it has time to implant. This person is on high dose long term antibiotics due to Lyme and other tick borne diseases. Lyme MD recommended the above.

Thanks to everyone who gave suggestions. My cardiologist recommended Clindamycin which is hard on the stomach so I am reluctant to try it I think it is in the same class of drugs as Erythromycin.
I can't take Erythromycin due to intestinal bleeding and pain, or Doxycycline due to vomiting.
Next I am going to talk to my dentist who is on vacation until next week.
