I'm confused about your statement "beyond being expected to buy an
architecture they cannot use as advertised." The 64-bit architecture
supports both 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems. This is as
advertised, and as it should be. I guess the complaint could be that
your screen reader choices for 64-bit Windows is limited or
non-existent. This may be a legitimate complaint, but it's not the fault
of the architecture or the operating system. In fact, you want the
architecture to support both 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems so you
could migrate to a 64-bit environment in stages. You can move to 64-bit
hardware and continue running your 32-bit operating system while you're
waiting for applications and device drivers to be ported over to the
64-bit operating system. I also don't think that anyone is paying more
for a 64-bit system right now than they paid for a 32-bit system.
