Marily, thanks for the response. I've spent the last 3 hrs. reading abt.
chromium6 as it relates to the human body and to Vit. C. Interesting stuff.
My conclusions pretty much mirror the info below that came from a friend who
has this man as her doctor (breast cancer); all I know about him is his
name: Dr. Linchitz but I believe he is in NYC. I also sent an email to the
person at the CDC who oversees environmental toxins.
Dr. Linchitz:
"Hexavalent chromium is a well known risk factor for lung cancer when it is
inhaled but it isn't known to cause cancer in other settings (ingestion or
even IV). It is a problem at superfund sites but not in stainless steel
pots unless they are melted down and the fumes are breathed in. Vitamin C
in the body will completely inactivate Cr 6 extracellularly before it
reaches the intracellular environment and therefore be protective. The only
circumstances under which I'd exercise caution would be after known exposure
from a contaminated site. The other caveat is that, as typical with these
experiments, they ONLY used vitamin C without any other vitamins and
co-factors that would protect against DNA damage which are always properly
part of a well thought out regimen."
