Me too, before I got sick/damaged/wounded/blessed.

It looks like there are two requirements to eat anything without apparent  
ill effects: to have a stunned stomach, and enough enzymes to properly  
digest enough to support whatever state of health.

Un-stunning the stomach requires for me raw paleo and food combining after  
Jon Matsen's book; the enzyme-producing ability of our bodies gradually  
decreases after ~27 years of age, so the need for raw food, which contains  
all the needed enzymes.
