The whole children/vegetable thing is crazy. Most kids love most
veg. If you don't force them to eat the ones they don't like at 6
months old, and don't do stupid things like hide over-boiled sprouts
in the middle of mashed potato to trick them into eating them, then
there shouldn't really be a problem.
When I was about 5, I used to love salads. I think I had one every
day at school. Then some interfering teacher had a go at me and tried
to get me eating beans on toast instead. Think she may have told my
mum too...
I think it's a bit sad that the so called "most advanced species on
the planet" almost completely lost the ability to feed its own
offspring properly. That's still important, right?
