Hypothetically, if I were to cook some

I never thought to ask.  My wife and I have argued this point and since she
cooks her views win.  Freshly cooked meat that is not handled, stored on
clean platter, and covered sits out a long time in our house. We're not
talking days but I have eaten meat left out over night.

I say that experts say you shouldn't eat meat that is left out and she says
"fine, don't eat it then."  We have only gotten sick from food once as far
as we can tell and it was not from meat left on the counter but from Jack in
the Box. It is possible however.
