Since we are discussing rudeness:

1. it is appropriate to quote the post you are responding to so that we
know who "you" is. Otherwise, everyone on the list has to assume you are
talking to them.

2. when a list owner or moderator asks you nicely to get on topic it is
appropriate to do so. You can always respond to individual posts off list.
