Sears definitely brings the eye of an athlete to the world of nutrition, it is true. But he's wrong about the Zone w/r/t carbs. You can get greater athletic performance low carbing during training and carb loading the day before the race. Having said that, his diet is very very good compared to the overwhelming majority of athletic nutrition out there.

Ranking is perfectly natural. You don't think, for instance, that paleo man didn't rank which range offered better game possibilities? Which animal was a better target for the kill? Which mate was preferable? I'm offering an opinion on which dietary plan best matches our paleo physiologies.
