Jen,

Maybe we should look at it this way:  Your mother doesn't have to "give up"
things as if it were a terrible sacrifice.  When she learns to love the
Lord, and He deals gently with her, she would come to be willing, and even
desire, to leave those things behind.  Besides, our focus should be on
giving ourselves over to God.  If we do that, everything else should fall
into place.  I'm praying.
