I've been doing some research on fiber for our next chapter newsletter. This
is what I found out about Metamucil.
Metamucil by Proctor & Gamble. 800-561-0748. Fiber is Psyllium in powder
form and in capsules.
Only the wafers have gluten. All other powders and capsules are gluten
free. (The maltodextrin is from corn.)
Metamucil’s website offers another benefit of their psyllium.
Clinical studies have shown that, taken daily, 7 grams of soluble fiber
from psyllium husk, the amount in three doses of Metamucil®, when part of a
heart-healthy diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, may help reduce
heart disease risk by lowering cholesterol. Check with your doctor.
