My first thought when I read this was that the problem was occurring at
about the point where the OS loads the video driver. It's barely possible
that an incorrect or corrupt driver could both blank the screen and
disconnect the Ethernet, although that's a bit of a long shot.
To test this theory, please try booting into Safe Mode, which will use the
default VGA-only driver. If that works, you need to download and re-install
the video driver.
If that fails at the same point, then I agree that it's probably the power
supply, since that's also about a point where additional electrical load may
be applied.
