"Meffert and his team relied on emergency power supplies and an Internet
phone account linked through the laptop of Scott Domke, a member of the
city's technology team. Using an Internet connection at the Hyatt Hotel -
where 15 city officials holed up during the storm - Meffert and his team
eventually linked eight lines through a single Vonage Internet phone
account. During the next five days, "virtually all communications out of
New Orleans by the city's top officials depended on Mr. Domke's laptop and
this single Internet phone account," the Wall Stree Journal reports."
