These days the AMD chips are running cooler than the Intel counterpart, in
some cases to a major degree. I haven't seen a chart with the Sempron
3000+, but past experience says it should be faster than a Celeron D
running at 3GHz.

Subject: AMD SEMPRON 3000+
In years 1999-2000 we used to deal with AMD and they worked fine. The only
problem was his high working temperature, if a cpu fan failed, the cpu was
risking its life.
Now I have lost the track of AMD and would like to know if the ones from
these days are so hot too.
Besides, what is the aproximate Intel equivalent to a SEMPRON 3000+?
TIA
