I found a good restaurant in the west Denver area--
Abrusci's Italian Restaurant
3244 Youngfield St., Suite G
Wheat Ridge, CO 80033
Phone 303-232-2424
It's in a strip mall off I-70, right behind Applejack Wine and Spirits.
It's everything you could want--nice ambience, a knowledgeable waitstaff,
and good Italian food--gluten free.
The first time we were in there, we were studying the menu when the hostess
asked us what we were looking for. We went though our usual routine of "no
wheat, no barley, no rye," and she said, "Oh, then you need our gluten free
menu." We were amazed!
They offer a good selection of appetizers, salads, entrees, and ten or more
pasta choices. When we were last there, the waitress told us they were
trying to get gluten-free Italian bread from a bakery in Boulder, so they
may have that by now, too.
The restaurant is privately owned, not a chain. They began preparing gf
food when one of their customers asked for it. Now they have about 20-25
people eating gf there every week, so you can be pretty sure I wasn't just
lucky the two times I was there. I wish there were more like this one
around.
