After a recent posting on the listserv, I went to the McCormick's company
website for information about caraway seeds. The web address I found is:

According to them, caraway seeds are the dried fruit of the herb Carum
carvi. They do not come from rye. They are often used to flavor rye breads.
I then went to the USDA website. Carum carvi are from the dicot group,
family apiaceae. Wheat, barley and rye are in the moncot group, from the family
poaceae.
I don't think we need to worry about the seeds.
