Maybe its important to remind here that lightning is "in the air" and power
and/or phone lines are just another carrier.  On wireless devices there is
an antenna because they use radio frequencies.

I have experienced lightning striking devices that were disconnected from
all sources, and, in one instance, the lightning "rolld" right toward the
antenna system and burned the box.  That was not "good" reception...
So, especially in lightning prone areas consider the antenna!
