The State of Maine has made a sincere and significant commitment to making its
public Web sites fully accessible to the public with disabilities.

EASI wants to brag that we have played a part in this achievement. One of our
graduates of our Certificate in Accessible Information Technology program is
playing a key part in this process. Ellen Wood and colleagues will report on
the mainstreaming of Web accessibility in Maine.

June 23 at 2 PM Eastern Free Clinic
The Collaborative Road to Maine State Web Accessibility

The Web is now one of the most important means by which Maine State government
communicates with the public. As website usage continues to grow, it is
critical
that all websites be accessible to the broadest possible audience. The Maine
State Web Standards focus on improving the quality, usability and accessibility
of all state websites. To assist in this effort,
new required web templates were developed to ensure unified and appropriate
electronic
government services to ALL customers and clients. A group from Maine's
Web Accessibility Sub-Committee will cover their road to accessible sites, both
technically and politically. (Maine State uses Dreamweaver, Contribute,
and Hisoftware.)
