Hello,
Yesterday I posted the below message and I wanted to thank all of
those (Mark, Amy, Christopher, Alex) who replied with their thoughts. I
found your input helpful and reassuring.
Also, about 30 minutes after my message appeared on the list, Eric
Damery from Freedom Scientific called me to discuss the upgrade. He
mentioned that since last Saturday there have been over 1000 downloads
with few support calls.
Thank you, Stewart

Hello all,
I was all set to download version 7.1 until I received this e-mail.
Anyone on this list having the same experiences?
Thank you and read on.

Regarding the release of Jaws 7.1, over the last several months I've
been
testing the beta releases and have downloaded the final releases of
7.1,
both the professional version edition and the windows 98 edition.
I've been extremely unsatisfied with the release. Many bug fixes
claimed by
Freedom Scientific to have been addressed during the beta tests remain.
A
number of applications which worked perfectly well for me in version
7.0,
now have problems including some form views in Access. Also, support
for
quite a few of the older synthesizers in the Windows 98 edition has
been
dropped.
assessments of the release on a number of the Jaws related listservs
has
been uniformly negative. For what it's worth, I would strongly suggest
avoiding this release.
