As some of you may know, one of the two talking digital multimeters, for
making electrical tests, which was on the market was recently
removed apparrently because the manufacturer considered it unsafe
for blind people.

This leaves an excellent but very expensive meter adapted by Tom Benham of
science products as the only option now available.

While we look at longer term solutions to this problem, we've tested a meter
from Metex inc. which has a serial interface and can be run from most
talking computers.

The unit we tested is not the cheapest of the companies line, costing
about $139.00 However it measures "True RMS" on A.C. measurements, which
can lead to greatly improved accuracy when looking at real world signals.
