Yeah, I know the subject line is rather inelegant (I was up way late last
night, <smile>), but it is accurately and sufficiently descriptive.

It appears from what Ilene Sirocca and Diane Scalzi have written that, when
installing JAWS 6.0 from the recently mailed disks package, one really
should place the program disk in first, then the authorization CD. Not
knowing any better (see my comment below), I did this in reverse.

And Rachel wrote:

Well, if it is the case that you need sighted assistance to install this new
JAWS 6, don't you think we ought to complain to F.S.? I think it's
outrageous that they would concoct an authorization scheme that a blind
person couldn't handle independently. And I don't doubt for a second that
John had this experience, and that many others will, too.

Believe me, I did "major league" get in their face about the situation. Now,
that having been said, we'd be asking a lot of the freedom scientific folks
to be able to take account of every possible scenario whereby a blind person
would be unable to independently activate their program. However, that
having ben said, norton, irrespective of what some people on this list may
think about it, is a fairly ubiquitous antivirus / internet security
program, and, in my opinion, the freedom scientific folks should, at a
minimum, have been aware of the distinct possibility of things playing out
exactly the way they did in my case.

Bottom line: it appears that Ilene and Diane have hit the nail on the head
for those of you installing JAWS 6.0 from the disks which have recently been
mailed out; i.e., put the program disk in first, then the authorization
disk. The freedom scientific folks should loudly and vociferously let people
know that this is how it is to be done in order to avoid the horror show I
was confronted with.

John
