Hi,
It's the graphical verification.  Type in the characters that you see in the 
graphic before we let you do anything.  It's to prevent spammers, bots and 
the like. I understand why some sites use it but it still ticks me off.  I'm 
outa here before I'm tempted to go on an expletive-riddled rant about it.
