Check the sound and audio devices under control panel, if she is
running XP. I have seen these settings get changed when a usb audio
device gets plugged in. They do not revert to the original settings
when the usb device is unplugged. Just a thought.

Subject: [VICUG-L] Mocrophone Question

Hello:

I received a call from a lady who is having problems getting her
microphone to work. She tried a different mic in her computer and it
doesn't work. Also, we checked the mic volume settings and the
checkbox
you come to when you tab away from the mic volume setting shows it's
not
checked, which I believe is the correct setting.

Does anyone have any ideas why this mic isn't working? She's trying
to
use the mic plugged into the mic jack on the front of her computer.
Is
there a way that one can disable the front jacks inadvertently?

Thanks,
