Hiberfil.sys is the hibernation file, and is explained here:
http://www.softwarepatch.com/tips/hiberfil-sys-xp.html
I have disabled/removed it several times without problem. I've heard it
suggested that hibernation is more appropriate for laptops than desktops.

>Hi, this is my first post here. I am trying to back up my entire hard drive onto a recently purchased Fantom External USB 2.0 Disk 80GB Drive. My hard drive is partitioned into C & D. I can copy the D drive just fine, but when I try to copy the C drive, it tells me that the hiberfil.sys is in use and it cannot complete the process. Does anyone know how I can get around this? I don't know if I want to disable my hiberfil, but if I do, will that solve the problem? Has anyone disabled the hiberfil and had a bad/good experience. I am a relative newbie and still learning the lingo, so please, talk down to me! :) Thanks for your help! Stephanie
