Yep, if the driver creates some kind of a IRQ or memory conflict, or is
corrupt in some way, the likely outcome will be a freeze. Video drivers are
always running, and interact with just about everything. A freeze caused by
video drivers was a very common thing back in the Windows 3.1 .....16 bit days.
