Hi John,
The easiest and best way to use a mobile (especially if you're blind and a
mechanical klutz like me <guffaw>) is to use one of those portable jell
cell/battery charger devices. I have the jumper 1000 which provides up to
100 amp per hour and 12 VDC. I simply shove it under the seat, conveniently
mount the mobile rig somewhere under the dash and stick a magnetic mount
antenna on the roof and off I go. I don't have to try drilling, routing or
in any other way savaging the car body/firewall to hook up a cable direct to
a battery.

I'm still trying to figure out the best way to get my 2 M mobile in the
family car but fusing it at the battery is the problem unless I get
replacement fuse holders and run my own wiring that way, I can't get to the
firewall from under the hood at all, not with in a foot so I need to run
form in the cab out and I like fuses right at the battery so I'll have to
work that out soon. Just can't find the right holders for that.
