Hello George and infected parties:

Below is a link to the story @ NPR you will need the real player and the
story plays for 4 minutes and 30 .seconds.
Computer Worm Attack Hits Networks Across U.S.
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=4805334

Does anyone on this list know where on Microsoft's web site the person
infected with this worm can find the patch? If so Please let then know.

I know it is not all that helpful to tell the person they have a worm and
then send them articles to read about their problem. Like I did above.

Everyone needs to be running a firewall and virus scanning software and
keeping them updated on a regular bases. However it seems this worm can
sneak in to an open port without the firewall knowing it. O my my what is a
person to do?

: It sounds like your computer is infected with the latest worm that's
making
: the rounds on the internet, particularly if you're running Windows 2000.
: But you don't necessarily have to be running Windows 2000 to be infected
: with it, as there are now many variants of it making the rounds now.
:
: One of the characteristics of this worm is rebooting your computer over
and
: over again, just as you have described.
:
: You didn't have to do anything wrong yourself to get infected with this
: thing, just be connected to the internet. So don't fret, as it wasn't
your
: fault.

:
:
:
: Hi friends,
:
: today my system restarted automatically while I was working once on word =
: document and another time when I was surfing the net.=20
: is it alarming? is it a sign of danger and anticipated trouble?
:
: my observation is that whenever I do a task very quickly at a speed with =
: which my processor probably is not equipped to handle, then this is how =
: it behaves!probably gets confused! well, I don't know what's wrong.
:
: can anyone tell me if it is a sign of trouble?
: what is it that I should do now before things go bad!
:
: of course I am going to back up my important files ...and do tasks one =
: by one and patiently...but tips and suggestions on trouble shooting are =
: invited, please!
: thanks
