The company Macromedia was bought by Adobe.  I think you are referring to
the Shockwave player.  This is also now from Adobe.  The link is below.

Subject: [VICUG-L] question about another flash player

Hi everyone, I was working today at the hospital, and I remembered that
there is another flash player or something known as Macro Media.  I
haven't updated mine in a long time, and when I have updated players from
adobe before it is just the plain old flash player, but is Macro Media
something different, and how easy is it to update with IE 7?
