My understanding is that there are many other auto-immune diseases which
occur more commonly in CD patients than in the rest of the population ---
like juvenile diabetes. See the "FAQ" for more details and a list (send
an email to [log in to unmask] with GET CELIAC FAQ in the body) It
is important to know this since if you have CD, you should be a bit more
suspicious than others of symptoms which occur from these other
disorders.... however this does not mean that CD *causes* diabetes, or
visa versa.
Certain HLA markers on chromosome 6 are associated with much higher
incidence of various autoimmune disorders. To obtain a copy of the
article by Dr. Reed Warren of Utah State University, where the
introduction maps out which disorders are associated with various HLA
