More comments came in about sliced bread. Some of the comments are from
product manufacturers alerting us to the availability of their
products. I am printing excerpts of these additional responses here for
your perusal! (I had to use the word "perusal" - taking anvantage of a
nice opportunity to use a funky vocabulary word while discussing
"gluten" a word that I am very tired of saying..... but that is another
topic - Tired of Saying "Gluten.")

So, here are some more responses - Sliced Bread! the movie!

I'm surprised that no one mentioned Manna from Anna's regular bread. My
husband, who is celiac, thinks it is the very best of all the one's we've
tried over the last 15 years.
---------------------------------------------
I have used the Sterk's Hi-Fiber Italian Bread.....and it is the Best I have
yet to eat since Celiac arrived on September 1999.........

Place it in a microwave...for a few sec....it wonderful...and
toasted.....just like the old gluten bread...-

Thank you for mentioning our product. Actually, we don't have a sandwich
bread mix, but we do have a roll mix (Aaron's Favorite rolls) which you
can make into a french long loaf for subway sandwiches. Aaron's
Favorite Rolls have a great texture (very soft, almost like wonder
bread) and we use Montina so they are a little healthier than the
typical rice flour bread.

Hi,

I noticed that people are looking for gf sourdough and bagels. We make
both. In fact, that's about the whole of our "bread" production in our
gf bakery, although we do make pizza and pie, etc. We're at Natural
Food Works' Farmer's Kitchen Cafe in Davis, Ca. We ship frozen to
anyone within one day of our location. At the moment, shipping is free....................

We're at naturalfoodworks.com.

Thanks,

Rose Anne

Hi - I haven't been too pleased with the commercial breads. I think it is the nature of wheat breads to taste better. For those of you who live on Long Island I would like to suggest the following restaurant which is Italian and whose owner is a Celiac who was very ill. In addition to delicious Italian food the co-owner Joanne does gluten-free baking including doughnuts, cookies, breads etc. They are very good, especially the doughnuts. The address is:

Caffe Baldo
2849 Jerusalem Avenue
Wantagh, New York 11793
(516) 785-4780
