USB 2.0 is backwards compatible with 1.1. The speed is considerably slower
with a 1.1 device than with a 2.0 device. However, for what you will be
doing you will likely not notice it and in a quick search I only found USB
1.1 card readers..

You can find out if you have USB 1.1 or 2.0 on your computer by going to
'control panel/system/hardware/device manager/USB controller/generic USB
hub', right click and go to properties. USB 1.1 or 2.0 will be indicated.

You might want to keep looking. About a year ago I purchased a USB 1.1
 "7 -in 1" card reader for $14.95 with a $15 rebate that I did receive. The
only identifying information on it or the package is "model no. UCR-61". I
have had no problems with it. www.Geeks.com has it on sale now for $5.99
plus shipping. I'm sure there are others.

I need a card reader to enable the transfer of HDD stored photos back to
the digital camera's memory card and I've been advised to obtain a "card
reader".  I've located one for $11.50, but it says that it's for USB 1.1
How do I tell if my ports are 1.1 or the newer 2.0?  Additionally, if
they are 2.0 will the card reader for 1.1 work satisfactorily?
