Hello Judy and other interested parties:

Well it hurts my heart to see a query without a reply. On the other hand
fools inter where angels fear to tread.

The short of it is for you to go back and reset your settings in Outlook
Express the way you would like them instead of the way Mr. Gates would like
them. Smile, groan, grimmest

The group messages by conversation seem to have been checked. To uncheck
this item:

Alt v to pull down the view menu

You should land on the current view item

Right arrow over to land on show all items

Up arrow to jump to the bottom of the list and land on the group messages by
conversation item

These items are toggled on an when you select them by pressing the enter key

As for deleting items, Outlook Express has as its default setting send item
to the deleted items folder. To look at the settings related to deleting
items

Alt t to pull down the tools menu

Up arrow to jump to the bottom of the list and land on and choose options

When the option panel opens you should be on the general tab. You will want
to check your settings under the read tab and your settings for deleted
items under the maintenance tab.

As for how or why stuff like this happens, I have no idea.

For further reading on these topics you may want to look at the related
items in the help files in O E.

Subject: [VICUG-L] Outlook express question

: Hello List, I use I.E. 6 with Outlook express and JAWS 7. This morning
when
: I pressed delete on a message, a message came up asking me if I wanted to
: delete all the messages in the collapsed conversation. I answered no but
it
: came up again when I deleted the next message. I recall several months
back
: I think the same message came up and I answered yes and it totally cleared
: out all of my folders. How did my messages get marked as collapsed and
how
: can I remove this designation? Also some of my messages which I have
: opened and read are still being displayed as unread, I haven't made any
: changes so this is puzzling to me, the only thing that has happened is
that
: I have just completed a Microsoft critical update. Thanks for any help,
: Judy
